Evaluation

For this evaluation, I am going to be reviewing my progress throughout this project talking about my strengths, weaknesses and what I have learned throughout this unit of work.

At the beginning of this unit, I think we did pretty well with generating ideas for our mini FMP. Me and Callum both share a common interest for the NFL and we both have similar career ambitions. We both wanted to do a podcast for this mini FMP. We worked well together and we really tried hard to make a production schedule and plan out what we would be doing week by week for this project and I feel like this was a huge success for me personally as in the past I haven’t been the best in terms of planning out my workload week by week as I would usually just end up not planning well in advance.

Another part to our project that I thought we used very well was the script. In the past my script writing has been pretty basic for projects in the past such as the music video to Boasty that I did. For this project, I wanted to change that all around and be able to go into the radio studio and be fully prepared with a script for our show that flows well and gives us something to go off of with stats written down in the script as well. This hugely benefitted me and Callum for this project as we were able to piece the show to flow easily and it has A format like other professional podcast’s do.

For our podcast we really needed to nail down on our knowledge of facts and statistics to do with the sport such as player stats and team stats. We did lots of secondary research as we looked into other sports podcasts and the one thing that stood out is the number of stats and research that the presenters have at their disposal to talk about and this is something we really needed to do for our podcast after looking at other sports podcasts such as Good Morning Football and Around the NFL.

However there were some aspects that we could of improved in such as the production aspect of the project. For example, our audio wasn’t of the best quality due to silly errors such as one mic being a little over exposed and me not speaking directly into the mic. These are silly little errors that could of easily been avoided so this is something that I would takeaway for future projects that we will be doing like the big FMP. Another improvement for our Final Major project that I would like to do is to have more camera’s whilst we film our podcast. I would have liked to use 3 camera’s whilst we filmed. One on me, one on Callum and another camera in a wide shot position.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience with the mini FMP, I have learned a lot of valuable skills and lessons throughout this project and I have even improved the skills I had before. After completing this unit of work, I truly feel like I can take on the FMP and make it the best thing I have made in College yet and I am eager to move on to this unit so I can put the skills I have learnt and improved on into the FMP. I was pleased with our final product as we used our inspirations to help us with guidance for our podcast such as setting and format in other shows such as The NFL show and the Joe Rogan experience.
