Presenter 1 – This, is a new podcast and you are welcome to it. It is the ‘One Story Short’ podcast, and if anybody is unaware of our aim here on OSS, its to push the message of inspiration in sport and we have a certain someone in the studio don’t we Conor…

Presenter 2 – Yes, we do Callum

Presenter 1 – It’s Birmingham’s own, welterweight champion, Frankie Gavin. Hiya Frankie!

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter 1 – How are you today, how was your journey here?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter 2  So yeah Frankie Gavin, former British and commonwealth welterweight Champion, gold medalist in the lightweight division at the 2007 World championships, first ever English winner of that event. You’ve even won lightweight gold at the 2006 Commonwealth games; you’ve had some impressive accolades to your name haven’t you.

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter 3 – So how did you get into boxing then? Where did it all start?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

All presenters stay on this topic for a bit until he has mentioned enough. Mention all his accolades as an amateur and talk about what it was like winning these.

Presenter 1 – So what do you remember about your first title win as an amateur then?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

All presenter’s – try to chip in with your own questions about his Amateur title win in the 2007 AIBA World Amateur championships in Chicago. Feelings before and after fight etc. Did you ever doubt yourself going into this fight.

2Presenter 3 – So going into the 2008 summer Olympics, you were considered as being Great Britain’s best hope of getting a medal, how did it effect you mentally when you were unable to make weight for the competition?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter’s talk about other well know boxers who were unable to make weight for a fight

Presenter 2 – So in October 2008, that is when you got your big break in as this is when you became a professional boxer, what was the process like making this step up? Was it hard?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter 1 – So talk us through your first professional fight, what was it like walking out in front of a bigger crowd where the competition is much tighter?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

All presenters chip in with your own thoughts and questions on Frankie’s career as a pro etc. So when you made it pro, obviously money becomes a big factor in your life now as this is how you pay to live, how do you go about selling a fight to an audience?

Presenter 3 – So how did you know when the time is right to hang up the gloves and call it a day?

Guest – (Left to interpretation)

Presenter 2 – Have you ever had the thought of like maybe I can do one more fight or are you the type of person who knows when to call it a day instead of having semi retirements and whatnot and becoming a version of your former self as we’ve seen in both boxing and even in the UFC? (give examples of fighters who are a version of their former self).

All presenters think about concluding this podcast now, don’t come to a sudden end, but try to end it with a career lookback, accolades etc.

Presenter 2 – Is there anything in your boxing career that you would of done differently? (jokingly say apart from winning)

Presenter 2 – Thanks Frankie for taking some time out of your day to come into the studio for this podcast

Presenter 3 – Ye it’s been great to talk to you today and discuss your boxing career.

Presenter 1 – So we are going to wrap this up now, once again Frankie than you again for coming on down it’s been great having you here and good luck with the running of your gym and whatever else you have planned.

Guest – Ah ye man thanks a lot it’s been great

Presenter 1 – Ok so that’s it for today’s episode of “One story short” Frankie have you got social media accounts where people can see what you are up to.

Guest – Proceeds to give.

Once again it’s been great having you in today, stay tuned for the next episode and goodbye.

Plan B

We each pick a sports star who is our inspiration and we discuss them with each other.

Evaluation:

Overall, I was pleased with our podcast even though we went through many changes due to guests not able to make the show. I thought that our passion for the project was good as it made us want to drive through this project and get it done as we all wanted to do something sport related I thought our profesionalism was strong shown through us contacting guests and how we went about it when recording. I also thought that we worked very well as a group together. We got on very well which meant that we were able to work profesionally without trouble.

However there were parts to this project that we could of done better for example, we could of tried to plan a bit better for our backup idea as we had to go with this idea due to our guest not being able to make it a week before recording. I figured that we could of tried harder to get some sort of a guest on.Even though we couldn’t, we should of tried to get someone on the podcast as a guest.

Throughout this project, I learnt how to use radio equipment such as jingles and intros etc. I practiced quite a bit before our scheduled recorind date so I could get better at the studio manager role that I found to enjoy quite a bit as I multi tasked with this in recording whilst being a host on the mic and controlling audio levels and jingles etc.

I learnt lots of valuable skills throughout this project such as how to plan a radio show, how to use radio equipment and how to play the role as host on a radio show. These skills have now made me more stronger in the radio sector and I would feel more confident in this area if I was to do something like this again.

I think we did well at what was asked and I would love to do something like this again as I thoroughly enjoyed this project. If I was to do this project again, I would make sure that we plan heavily including stronger scripts, practice runs and more idea generation tools to improve on what we have done in ths project.
