9th December 2019
On the this day we were given the brief for this project, I decided to team up with my fellow colleague Callum. We came up with the idea of creating an NFL podcast as we both share a passion for the sport.
16th December 2019
We both created our own production schedule, on the proposal form where we outlined, when we would be researching, completing the necessary pre-production and editing. We’ve specifically targeted each week towards a certain aspect of the project.
6th January
After our Christmas break, we got ourselves back into the swing of things and we started to put together all of our research and gather more pieces of knowledge of the NFL. This was a day when one of the tutors, Dan, showed us how to create a script which later that week I went away to write us a script whilst Callum went away and wrote up some research.
15th January
We took test shots of the camera angles that we want to use for our podcast. Since we don’t have access to the radio studio till the time of recordings as we have booked it for that time. I also began uploading all of the pre production for our mini FMP onto my blog.
23rd January:
This day we did a practice recording for our podcast so we could proof read through the script and get a rough timing for how long the episode will be, overall everything went pretty well. We now feel much more confident going into the recording studio now as we feel like we are ready to go and perform our best.
27th January:
On this day we filmed our episode of our podcast all in all went pretty well but we made a silly error with the first recording as we forgot to press the record button on the audio recording device that we used so we had to redo the episode straight after due to a silly mistake that could of been avoided. Our interviewee that we had on the air was very talkative and overall helped us with more talking points that we hadn’t even written into the script but improvised live on air which I believe was a good thing to do as it wouldn’t sound as formulaic.
30th January:
Today we began editing our film we managed to fit the audio and footage together so it is in sync, we added our jingle to the start and added an intro to the podcast. We now only have to finalise the last few bits of the podcast making sure everything we wanted to be in the podcast is in it.
3rd February:
After thoughtful consideration we noticed that there was a lot of dead space in terms of visuals in our podcast. We know that if we to want to make a revenue from this, we wouldn’t be allowed to due to copyright infringement. Since we are using this podcast for education purposes, we will be fine with using videos and pictures from YouTube and google. We know this now after researching about copyright laws so we know what we can do and what we cant do.
5th February:
On this day we decided to show our peers in our class what we considered to be the final version for our podcast. They really liked the way we implemented our own jingle and added in highlights of the games over our voices to break up the podcast a little so it didn’t seem like the same camera angle throughout the whose thing which ended up resulting in a much better and easier watch for the audience. However one comment that stood out for us which was a bit of criticism but it has opened our eyes a little more for what we could do with the future projects such as the big FMP, is implementing the Ken Burnes effect to our photo images. This is when you slowly zoom in, out or lateral with an image to create some movement with it to make it more visually pleasing for the viewer. This effect is used in many ways such as documentaries and videos all over YouTube. I am glad that I was told this by my peer as I had never heard of the Burnes effect but when i researched into it, I then knew exactly what it was visually and I am going to learn how to use this in Premier Pro for my next project.
12th February:
Today I reflected on all the work that I have done for this mini FMP and wrote all about it in my evaluation which I have fully completed today. It has made me realise all the improvements that I have made to this unit of work compared to my past work and I can’t wait to start my proper Final Major Project so I can improve even more and make the best product I possibly can.
